Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner, one of three being hailed as heroes for intervening in a gunman’s attack on Republican congressmen at a baseball practice Wednesday, is a former college basketball star who is married to a woman.

75-year-old Jean Wimberly could very well be considered a living icon in the LGBTQ movement. When she moved from Philadelphia to New York in the early 1970's, she joined women's support groups and become a social activist for black lesbians. She later founded Circle of Voices, Inc. based in Brooklyn and remains involved in LGBTQ advocate today.

Edna Redo grew up in Chicago with a tough but loving mother. Only after she passed away did Edna learn the extent of her love and acceptance.

Youtube Vlogger Dani opens up and shares her journey of accepting who she is and finding love. In the video notes she states "This video is in no way shape or form, meant or intended to bash anyone. I simply was looking for an outlet to express my feelings, about things I rarely share with anyone. It was also created with the intention that it could help even one person to know that we all have our own crosses to bear, but we can do it if we just believe it will get better."

Orange Is the New Black star Samira Wiley married longtime love Lauren Morelli in Palm Springs, Calif. on Saturday, Martha Stewart Weddings reports. The newlyweds, who met on the set of the wildly popular Netflix series, tied the knot during a confetti-themed celebration in the same place they got engaged last October.
