Lesbian Couple Attacked In Apparent Hate Crime

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A local woman said she's now scared just to walk down the street after being violently attacked in South Los Angeles for being gay.

There were hugs and tears as Sabrina Hooks and her girlfriend Morgan recounted the violent encounter that left the 26-year-old beaten and bruised for her sexual orientation.

"For it to get violent and, like I said, no one helped, that's just what really stunned me and it still hurts. It makes me fear just to walk down the street," Hooks said.

Out Teen, Bullied and Called Gay Slurs At California High School

Logann Pruneda, a student at Bullard High, says she was pelted with full juice boxes at school on Monday for being gay. It was her 16th birthday.

The Fresno Unified sophomore said that after a fire drill outside the school, she was hit with three boxes of apple juice from behind, leaving an abrasion and bruise on her neck. She was also hit in the back and ribs.

She heard a male call her “a faggot, a queer, a lesbo” during the attack, but did not see who did it, and did not recognize the voice.

Woman Sentenced To Life In Prison After Starving Girlfriend To Death

Becky Reid, 32, was sentenced after being convicted on Thursday by a jury of the murder of mother-of-one Lyndsey Vaux, 30, following a six-week trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Reid refused to leave her cell at HMP Styal on Friday to face sentencing.

Ms Vaux’s daughter, aged 12, was sitting in the public gallery when the sentence was announced.

Ms Vaux died in Wigan on May 22 last year, half-starved and severely injured following years of beatings by Reid, after falling under her control and losing contact with her daughter five years ago.

A same-sex couple were left ‘speechless’ after a barman wrote ‘lesbians’ on their drinks bill.

Belinda Mulcahy, 46, and Joanne Sheperd, 41, were shocked when they saw the bill’s description at Hafan y Mor holiday park near Pwllheli, North Wales.

The couple have described barman’s actions as ‘horrifying’.

Sheperd had taken Mulcahy out for her birthday drinks, when they were given the receipt.

‘We could have been friends.’

‘We hadn’t done anything overt,’ Sheperd told The Sun.

‘We hadn’t been kissing or holding hands. We could have been friends.’

Eileen Del Rio and her fiancée Wendy, who live in California, went to Tastries Bakery with the expectation of picking out their wedding cake.
